I am Dr. Candice Bridge, Educational Outreach Director at the Defense Forensic Science Center (DFSC) located in Forest Park, GA. I manage our University Internship Program and I am reaching out to you today asking for your assistance. The DFSC is currently looking for junior chemistry students who are interested in applying their knowledge in the area of forensic sciences. We have a need for an intern in our drug chemistry branch to acquire, analyze and disseminate spectral data that benefits forensic drug chemists around the United States. Due to the prevalence of the every-changing synthetic drug environment, it is necessary that the forensic drug chemists stays ahead of the curve by sharing spectral data.

We are seeking interns who meet the following qualifications:
- Junior chemistry student
- Knowledgeable of the Microsoft Office Suite
- Internet research skills
- Self motivated and can work independently
- Minimum GPA: 3.0
- US Citizen
- No felonies (Note: we do background check)
- Knowledgeable of website design (beneficial)
- Knowledgeable of maintaining message boards (beneficial)
Some of the internĂ¢€™s responsibility will be:
- Researching current and past publications for relevant material to forensic drug chemists and adding it to the site
- Reviewing and proofreading the chemical, spectral and other data currently on the Forendex website
- Researching legal decisions that are relevant to forensic drug chemists (e.g. DEA scheduling of illicit drugs)
- Finding vendors or psychoactive sites and adding links to the Forendex website
- Finding relevant chemical and physical data to support identifications
- Analyzing novel psychoactive substances and adding the generated data to the Forendex website
This internship is a PAID opportunity for the student. The full-time stipend is approximately $2,500/month. We are looking for a part-time intern who can work 12-14 hours a week for up to a year and the stipend would be adjusted accordingly. Attached is our brochure which gives an overview of our program.

If you can recommend one student that is interested and willing to participate, please send me a copy of their resume, their unofficial transcript, and a proof of citizenship (birth certificate or passport). This is a pressing need for the Forensic Drug Community and thus the deadline for applications is Wednesday, October 09, 2013.

If you have any questions or would like more information, please feel free to contact me or Danielle Green.

Best Regards,
Candice
