CDC employment opportunities 2011

The Division of Laboratory Sciences at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is currently seeking a laboratory research fellow (http://www.orau.gov/cdc/) to fill a 2-3 year term position in Atlanta, GA. The Division of Laboratory Sciences (www.cdc.gov/dls/) maintains a state-of-the-art laboratory facility and specializes in applying advanced analytical methods for quantifying human exposure to environmental toxicants in support of National Center for Environmental Health. This position involves measuring volatile organic compounds in human blood and tobacco smoke. The candidate should hold a chemistry degree or demonstrate strong interest in bioanalytical applications. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate knowledge, skills and/or interest in mass spectrometry, gas chromatography, solid phase microextraction, handling/processing of human blood samples, data processing, and data review. Candidates must have a competitive GPA (3.0 or higher) and be available to start immediately. Please note that relocation expenses are not covered by this fellowship.



Stipends are determined as follows:

B.S. - GS7 ($40,534)
M.S. - GS9 ($49,581)

Annually, all participants will receive a cost of living increase and a performance based increase up to an additional 3%.

Health insurance can be provided by ORISE at the participant's request (insurance will be paid by ORISE in addition to listed stipend).

Requirements
The ORISE Fellowship requires that participants have graduated within 3 years from start date with a B.S. or M.S.
