Greatest Chemistry Discoveries

In today’s time period, we as humans have made many incredible inventions and discoveries. Sometimes, we forgot the inventions and discoveries made long ago that has help us make the discoveries today. I’m going to list some of the greatest chemistry discoveries. Keep in mind that you may not agree to this list, but this is based off a video by Bill Nye called “ Greatest Discoveries: Chemistry”. Most of this is my opinion. Let us begin!
1. Oxygen
Now, some of you are already saying that Oxygen was never created, but it was discovered by Joseph Priestley in Wiltshire, in 1774. Mr. Priestley wrote lots of notes about his studies. He was looking for new types of “airs” or what we now call gases. In his test, he used Mercury. He takes a burning glass and heats several elements and a gas is made. Repaet Carl Wilhelm Scheele also discovers Oxygen because he used different elements that reacted and made gas when they touched other elements.
2. Atomic Weight
John Dalton was the one who discovered this and he made a theory. This theory says it connects the atoms with the elements.
3. Atoms Combining Into Molecules
A scientist proved that gases were made of atoms groups together by looking at them move through a telescope.
Another scientist discovered the structure of chemicals when he compared two carbon based objects.
6. Periodic Table of Elements
A teacher was making flashcards for his students. He was trying to organize them into groups when he discovered that the elements have a lot in common.
7. Electricity Transfers Chemicals
A man put ashes
8. Atoms have Signatures of Light
Every element has a different spectrum, and the scientist found this out by using a spectrascope.

11. Radioactivity
It was an extremely dangerous study and the scientist studying it died from it. It is useful for batteries and other things to advance our technology.
13. Fullerenes
Carbon nano tubes are thinner than DNA  and stronger than steel and diamond. Richard Solley, in 1985, was studying the nature of intersteller things.
